Before college/ uni actually starts, I thought I’d throw something on my blog for those like me who will be extremely busy on the side juggling multiple projects, part-time jobs and having to balance personal life as well.
So here you go, friend, here’s some advice I got myself when I was already struggling last year!
Seriously, you’re going to need something you can hold on to that helps you keep track of all your deadlines and personal activities. It can be a planner, your phone, a bunch of sticky notes, whatever. You’ll need to have an overview somewhere or the chaos will be damaging.
Set aside a day a week to catch up on uni work
I know, your schedule is hectic. But to stay on track, you need to set aside a specific day or time of day solely to catch up on your lectures and assignments. Hustling from one to another and attempting to multitask will probably not help much.
Set aside a day/half a day just to relax
This is so important. Otherwise, you’ll collapse, keeping yourself busy like that. Take a day for a breather so it doesn’t overwhelm you.
Use all the time you can to do your assignments
Yes, you could do something else instead now. You could turn on Netflix and eat away on Nachos but think about how you’ll thank yourself later on if you do that assignment now instead of later, when you’ll regret wasting your time away and feeling extremely stressed out! It won’t be that bad and it won’t take as long as you think. Just get it done as soon as you can and you won’t have to deal with it later anymore.
Drop a thing
This sounds painful but there are only 24 hours in a day and you don’t want to be straining your mental health by hustling back and forth and not being able to keep up. Balancing too many things at once can wear you out in no time and eventually make you sick. Realistically see what you actually have time for and what matters more than the other thing. You don’t have to drop that, let’s say, hobby forever. Just until you have time again.
I hope this helps someone out there. What are your tips?
